Jason is invited to Anna’s home, a bit anxious to meet her parents after a very long time. Besides, a lot had changed since Anna's fateful accident and the growing distance in their friendship.

Doorbell rang,
Kate: Who is it?
Anna: Mum, please open the door. It's Scooby and me at the door.
Several strides were overheard closer towards opening the door. Anna's mother opened the door, excited to see a long-lost friend of her daughter.
Jason: Good morning, Anna’s mum (smiling as a way of covering up his anxiety).
Kate: Jason! Wow. It has been a long time since seeing you (giving him a motherly hug). Honey! Guess who came to see us today!

Anna was strolled in by Jason. Shortly afterward, Kate leaned over to her daughter towards the dining area. Breakfast was ready and put down. Thomas ambled from his study room, heading towards the living room.
Thomas: Jason. Nice to see you again.
He leaned over to greet the young boy, delighted at his thought to escort Anna back home after a morning stroll.
Anna: I told you that they would be happy to see you.
Thomas and Kate: Hahaha!
Jason: It’s my pleasure seeing you again.
Kate: You came right in time. Please join us for breakfast.
Jason: Thanks. I guess I will join you.
Anna was glad he accepted to join us for breakfast. The four of them headed straight to the dining area. Not long after, they slowly began enjoying their breakfast meal.
After much silence, as everyone was slowly enjoying their meal,
Kate: Tell us, Jason, what brings you today to our home?
Anna: Mom, please let him enjoy his breakfast first.
Kate: I am curious to find out since it has been a while.
Jason: Well, I bumped into Anna during the morning stroll. It was a good coincidence since I ordinarily walk that street every morning and I hadn't seen here before.
Kate: Wow, that's good. Anna, you see, getting out there is good for you.
Thomas: I heard about your divorce recently from your father. Was that true?
Jason: Yes. (A slight pause). Honestly, the divorce proceedings are wrapping up right now. My ex-fiancée and I decided to move it very swiftly and low profile.
Kate: We are sorry about the divorce. It's tough on you.
Jason: Well, I guess it’s life. We face its ups and downs.
Kate: Yes, I concur. However, I believe it's burdensome for you after your sudden job loss.
Thomas: Honey, I trust, we shouldn’t meddle in much on his life now.
Jason: No, it's fine. I have made peace with all that has happened. I am now working as a freelance writing and interior designer.
Kate: Wow, that's fascinating. My mother is looking for more assistance in her décor shop. Your hands and Anna's will do so much help on her part. We are concerned about her health. Furthermore, it would be good for her to rest more at her age.
Anna nodded slowly, embarrassed at how much her mother was interrogating Jason with questions about his life. On the other hand, it brought about some information that she never knew about Jason like he is now divorced. She slowly munched her food as she reflected on what she just learned about Jason.
Suddenly, her thoughts were disrupted.
Kate: Anna! Anna!
Anna: Ye, mum (suddenly, woken up from her thoughts). What were you saying?
Kate: I was informing Jason that your grandmother needs more help in her décor shop. Knowing that, Jason has good expertise in interior design; I figured he will be the best teacher for you in showing you a bit on the décor side. Don't you agree?
Anna: Well, knowing I don't have an option since my accident. I am no longer a dancer, I might as well try something else.
Kate: We did not mean like that.
Jason: I am sorry about what happened to you, Anna. I am.
Anna: Thanks. ( After a slight pause, she looked down on her food; refusing to look back as tears welled around her eyes). I am satiated. Let me head back to my room. It was great seeing you again, Jason.
Jason: It was great seeing you too.
Kate: Lemme help you in escorting you to your room.
Anna: No, I am fine. I will manage.
Anna slowly left the dinner area, leaving the rest puzzled about her reaction.
Thomas: I must apologize for my daughter's behavior. Jason, it was nice seeing you again and we should catch up soon enough. Honey, I have a class I want to prepare for. Thanks for the breakfast.
Kate: Goodbye honey. Enjoy your class.
Jason: Well, I must leave as well, since I have some errands here and there. Thanks for the breakfast.
Kate: Thanks for coming. I apologize for Anna’s behavior, things have been tough on her since that fateful day. She never talks much about it. However, I feel that you should accept my offer for two reasons. The first one is bringing your expertise to my mother's décor shop. The second reason is taking care of my daughter. Knowing that you will be there with her, might bring back her optimism in life.
Jason: I can only promise to do the best I can. However, that fateful day was demanding on all of us; including the rest of the clique. Anyways, thanks again and goodbye.
Kate: Goodbye Jason.
She locked the door as soon as the guest exited. Gushing about the morning encounter with Anna's friend, hopeful that life will be back to normal very soon enough. She prayed silently in her heart, anticipating a Christmas miracle may come soon enough for her daughter.
